Abstract

559,044. Catalytic apparatus. INTERNATIONAL CATALYTIC OIL PROCESSES CORPORATION. Oct. 27, 1941, No. 13811. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group IV] Hydrocarbons containing more than one carbon atom in the molecule are prepared by catalytic reaction of hydrogen and oxides of carbon, powdered catalyst being suspended in the gaseous mixture which is then passed upwardly through one or more externally cooled stationary non- rotating vertical reaction tubes having a diameter of ¢ to 8 inches and preferably 1¢ to 5 inches. The tubes may be mounted in a chamber in which a cooling liquid is circulated. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the manufacture of methanol and other alcohols, synthol and similar mixtures of liquid hydrocarbons and oxyorganic compounds. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
