Abstract

559,035. Filtering air and gases. BRAND, A. N. Oct. 29, 1942, No. 15219. [Class 8 (ii)] The filter tubes e, f are enclosed in a casing divided by a partition n which is reciprocated to clean the filter tubes, when the flow of gas to be cleansed has been stopped, by causing alternate pressure and suction in the two compartments, loosening the dust, which falls into a hopper h. The partition may be a diaphragm secured to the casing at the edges. Gas normally enters the hopper by an inlet k and after passing through the filters passes through an outlet partitioned by a plate p and having a check valve opened by the gas flow. Separate outlets may be provided for the two compartments. Specification 519,180 is referred to.
