Abstract

558,258. Phenols, amines, ketones. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). May 18, 1942, No. 6745. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] 2:5 - Dimethyl - 4 - cinnamalaminophenol is prepared by forming the nitroso derivative of 2-hydroxy-1:4-dimethylbenzene, reducing to the amino compound with ammonium hydroxide and hydrogen sulphide, and reacting with cinnamaldehyde in boiling alcohol. 2 : 5 - Dimethyl 4 - γ - phenylpropylamino - phenol is prepared by reducing 2:5-dimethyl-4- cinnamalaminophenol with sodium in alcohol. 2 - p - tert. - Amylphenyl p - benzoquinone is prepared by reacting diazotized p - tert. - amyl - aniline with .benzoquinone in the presence of sodium acetate in aqueous alcohol. 2:5 - Dihydroxy - 41 - tert. - amyldiphenyl is prepared by reducing 2-p-tert.-amylphenyl-pbenzoquinone with zinc in acetic acid. p-Laurylaminophenol is prepared by refluxing lauryl bromide and excess p-aminophenol in dioxane. n - Dodecyl p - hydroxyphenylaminoacetate hydrochloride is prepared by refluxing together p-aminophenol, n-dodecyl chloracetate, and sodium bicarbonate in aqueous alcohol, and adding dilute hydrochloric acid. 2 - Phenoxyacetylamino - 4 - nitro phenol is prepared by reacting 2-amino-4-nitrophenol and phenoxyacetyl chloride in ethyl ether. 2 - Phenoxyacetylamino - 4 - aminophenol hydrochloride is prepared by reducing 2-phenoxyacetylamino-4-nitrophenol in alcohol catalytically with hydrogen, and adding hydrochloric acid. 2 - p - Toluenesulphonamido - 4 - nitrophenol is prepared by heating together 2-amino-4- nitrophenol and p-toluenesulphonyl chloride. 2 - p - Toluenesulphonamido - 4 - aminophenol hydrochloride is prepared by reducing 2-ptoluenesulphonamido - 4 - nitrophenol catalytically with hydrogen and adding hydrochloric acid.
