Abstract

558,201. Non-return valves, TRIGG, W. W. (Eisemann Magneto Corporation). June 26, 1942, No. 8828. [Class 135] A non-return valve, particularly adapted for use in pumping apparatus used for transferring fuel at low pressure in connection with Diesel engines has a lift valve member guided by a spring disc flat valve plate 14 co-operates with an annular or spider. In the form shown in the Figure, a seat 13 formed on the bottom of a recess 12 in an annular member 10 made a press fit in a fluid conduit. The valve member and seat may be tapered or of other form and the seat may be formed on the wall of the fluid passage. A stud 16 of duralumin secures steel rings 18, 20 one on each side of the valve plates. The loading and guiding spring comprises a central boss with a central aperture encircling.the ring 18 and resting on a ring 26 surrounding the stud or encircling the head of the stud and resting on the upper side of the ring 18. The central boss has four radial arms 25 depressed to tension the spring and held in place by a spring ring 29 engaging a groove 28. The lift of the valve is limited by engagement of the plate with the spring arms and this lift may be reduced by placing washers 27 above the valve plate. The spring may be formed as a disc with a series of perforations. In a modification the parts 16, 18, 20 are replaced by a disc with opposed projections one fitting lightly in a central aperture in the valve plate and the other slidably engaging the central aperture in the spring.
