Abstract

557,988. Valves; ventilators. FITZMAURICE, R. June 12, 1942, No. 8094. [Class 135] Also in Group X] A valve device particularly adapted for insertion in a ventilating opening in a wall is adapted to be moved towards its closed position by fluid flow in either direction. The device comprises a box-like structure 1 adapted to be built into a wall and is formed with inwardly flanged inlet and outlet openings 4, 5. The valve member comprises two inwardly flanged cylindrical segments 11, 12 rotatably. mounted on a transverse axle or trunnions 8. The segment 11 is fitted with a radial vane 13 and a fixed baffle 14 formed with a trough 15 below the vane is arranged to cause air flowing between openings 4 ... 5 to impinge on the vane and move the valve member against the action of a weighted arm 9 so that one or other of the segments partially closes the opening 4. The segment 11 may be arranged to co-operate with the opening 5 or both segments may be duplicated.
