557,609. Building materials. PALMER, E. W., and PALMER, J. Sept. 1, 1942, No. 12324. [Class 87 (i)] A fire-protective and sound-insulating material to be applied to the exterior of steel and other structures, for example a girder a, comprises outer and inner layers b, c of plaster board or other fireresisting slabs with an interposed layer d of mineral wool, slag wool or similar fireproof material. The casing is held in place by metal lathing e. A fire-proofed cloth of scrim &c. may be applied to the plaster board to serve as a key for a finishing coat of plaster.
