[Classes 44 and 89 (i)] A hose clip comprises a length of plain strip or band a the ends of which are respectively connected by links c, e to a perforated block b and nut d, the tightening bolt or screw passing through the former and engaging the latter. One end of the band is passed through link c and bent over, the band carried round the hose-pipe (not shown), threaded through link c and again carried round the pipe. A flattened sleeve g is threaded on to band, the end a' of which is threaded through link e, adjusted by pulling by hand, and finally secured by passing through sleeve g and bending over as shown in full lines. The clip is tightened by screw and, in order to avoid an excessive projection of the screw end beyond the nut after tightening, the screw or bolt may be in two headed parts f, f<1>, Fig. 2, part f having a threaded spigot screwing into a socket in part f<1>. Part f is screwed into nut d, part f<1> is passed through block b and screwed on to part f, as shown, the bolt is then rotated as a whole till the end of part f<1> enters the nut. and the new projecting part f removed. The block and nut are shown as of U-form with the links engaged in the bights and held against removal by upsetting the edges of the limbs to form projections x. Link c may be long enough to bend into conformity with the hose pilpe when the clip is tightened. Specifications 534.246 and 550,692 are referred to.
