Abstract
557,138. Condenser tube joints. BAY, T. J. April 28, 1942, No. 5712. Convention date, Jan. 3. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] Corrosion and erosion of the ends of condenser tubes 10 at their junction with a header plate 11 are prevented by the insertion of a sleeve 13 of non-metallic material having a relatively low burning rate such as a thermoplastic synthetic resin, which is driven into the tube 10. The sleeve is flared at 14 to cover the tube end, and has a restricted throat 15. The material is transparent and sufficiently deformable radially to enable it to fit the tube closely, and sufficiently rigid longitudinally to enable it to be driven in. U.S.A.
