[Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group V] A vulcanization accelerator comprises the reaction product of a methylol-, dimethylol-, or methylol-thio-carbamide with a 2-(aminothio) thiazole of the general formula : <SP>R1</SP> R2 #N-S-R3 wherein R1 and R2 each denote hydrogen, an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or cycloaliphatic radical, with or without amino substituents and R3 the thiazole residue, either substituted or not. Examples of 2 (amino-thio) thiazoles include a number with benzo, methyl, methylbenzo, phenolbenzo, chlorbenzo, and naphtho substituents. In an example, 0.2 mol. of cyclohexylaminothiobenzothiazole and alcohol are heated with a solution of dimethylolcarbamide for 24 hours, and solvent extracts washed with caustic soda solution and water, a dark red resinous material being obtained.
