[Class 50] Small coal or slack up to such size as will pass a screen of “ inch mesh is mixed with granulated peat and a binding agent such as pitch or sulphite lye, and moulded or extruded under pressure to form briquettes, which are then heated to a temperature of 400-500‹ C. so as to carbonize the surface layer only.
