[Class 83 (iii)] A tool for boring or drilling shafts, gunbarrels or the like comprises a flat member c formed with a series of steps f ... m which produce radial and axial cutting edges which come successively into operation starting with the outside edges f<SP>1</SP> and finishing with the edges adjacent the tool axis. Each face has a groove n extending past the cutting edges and relief is provided as shown to both the radial and longitudinal edges. The side edges d, e taper inwardly from the leading edges of the tool and serve to trim the bore of the hole.
