555,821. Printing-machines. ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORPORATION. Nov. 25,1941, No. 10834/43. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1940. Divided out of 555,033. Drawings to Specification. [Class 100 (ii)] A printing machine, such as an addressing machine, is provided with platen mechanism in which a platen roller, having a number of segmental platen faces, is movable towards and away from a printing plane, and in which the roller, is mounted on a carriage reciprocable over said plane, driving means, for rotating the roller during the reciprocation of the carriage being adjustable, while the roller remains mounted on the carriage, so that the phase relationship between the oscillation of the roller and the reciprocation of the carriage may be changed whereby the platen face to be operative in a printing stroke may be selected. The construction described is identical with that described in Specification 555,033.
