Abstract
553,584. Building blocks. HARDIE, A. Jan. 7, 1942, No. 256. [Class 87 (i)] A building element is formed of a moulded mixture of Portland cement, sand and a light weight material such as sawdust, corkdust, or ground spent shale having embedded therein non- metallic reinforcement of crossing strips, straws or strings of non-metallic material such as wood shavings, laths, bamboo, split saplings, wheat straws, osiers or paper strings, the strips &c. which lie in one direction having the ends of adjacent aligned strips overlapping each other. The elements may be in the form of slabs up to 10 ft. long, 6 ft. wide and two or more inches thick.
