Abstract
553,483. Swash-plate pumps. READ, B. N. Sept. 19, 1942, No. 13250. [Class 102 (i)] In a swash-plate pump a rotating cylinder block a has a number of pairs of cylinders i, j arranged back to back and connected by a bore n in which works a distance rod o to maintain the pistons k, m in a predetermined spaced relationship. The rods o may be separate from, or secured to either or both of the pistons. Adjacent the inner ends of the cylinders i, j the block a is formed with holes p, q which connect alternately with semiannular ports r, t formed in the central body part b of the pump and connected to inlet and outlet openings g, h. The swash-plates comprise a ring wand a plate x, and the stroke of the pistons k, m is varied by adjusting the inclination of the plate x by means of screw pins 12, or by lever or cable mechanism.
