Abstract

551,680. Revolving lamp shades. HAM, B. W. H. Oct. 1. 1941, No. 12686. [Class 75 (ii) ] [Also in Group XVIII] A colour-changing display device comprises two or more co-axial translucent cylinders 12, 13 disposed on pivots 16 about a light source. The tops of the cylinders are provided with a ring of fan-blades 19 which re-act against convection currents rising from the lamp to turn the cylinders either in the same direction at different speeds or in opposite directions. The cylinders have inclined strips of different colour, the strips on one cylinder sloping in a direction opposite to those on the adjacent cylinder. A constantly changing colour effect is thus thrown on a diffusing screen 21 located between the cylinders and a viewing window 22, which may be of clear or of diffusive glass. The screen 21 may be a pleated sheet of paper, silk &c. and the pleats may converge toward the top or the bottom of the screen, Which may be inclined as ' a whole so that its top recedes from the window 22.
