Abstract
550,439. Arched structures. DREWERY, D. Sept. 16, 1941, No. 11874. [Class 20 (iv)] Hollow tiles or the like 8 are preferably arranged with their cavities at right angles to the springer beams 2 ; their sides and ends are enclosed in concrete which penetrates to some distance into the cavities. Light packing material in the middle of each cavity limits the extent of penetration. The outer surface of the structure may be screeded over or otherwise finished. The springer beams 2 are mounted on brick or concrete pillars, reinforced with rods 7, connected by ties 6, and formed with gutters 5.
