550,430. Code signal transmitters. ROTHERMEL, Ltd., R. A., WATES, F. S. S., INTERNATIONAL MARINE RADIO CO., Ltd., and McALLISTER, W. H. Aug. 15, 1941, No. 10426. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XL] A keying device for an emergency radio transmitter comprises an electric motor a driving two sets of cams e, f, g and h, i at different rates, the cams operating at the slower rate e, f, g respectively rendering the transmitter operative and putting it and the motor out of operation, rendering the signal cams operative only after a pre-determined interval, and rendering the signal cams intermittently inoperative so as to provide a dash signal. The signal cams h, i are selected by a handoperated switch k and the arrangement provides for the sending of distress and identity signals and also a dash signal at intervals to facilitate the taking of a directional bearing. A modulating commutator may be provided on the motor shaft. An additional signal cam, Fig. 5 (not shown) may be provided to transmit a recognition signal which may be changed at intervals by replacing the cam.
