Abstract
549,118. Hand trucks. SHACKLETON, H., and POCHIN, A. D. June 11, 1941. No. 7403 [Class 108 (i)] Hand trucks for transporting machinery &c. and of the kind described in Specification 487,382, [Group XXX], have the load-supporting surface on a platform, which is mounted on a wheeled undercarriage and extends over the wheel-base thereof, and displaceable from the horizontal load-carrying position to an inclined position to cause the load-carrying surface to extend to the floor for sliding the load on to it. In Fig. 1 is shown a platform 8 pivoted on an undercarriage 5 and capable ot being tilted up for bringing the end 9 down (as shown in dotted lines) by means of a worm-operated sector 16 having an arm 11 with a link 12 connecting it at 13 to the platform 8. Other constructions of lifting-gear, including one using hoisting mechanism as in Specification 469,967 and also provided with means for preventing overbalancing, are also described.
