549,059. Compound sheets. ROBERTSON CO., H. H. May 2, 1941, No. 5757. Convention date, June 26, 1940. [Class 140] A protected sheet for roofing and siding purposes comprises a central sheet 20 of metal, wall board, plywood, " Masonite," " Celotex " &c. the two latter being Registered Trade Marks, protective layers of asphalt 18, thin fibrous layers 14 of kraft or other thin paper and fire-resisting layers 12 of asbestos adhered to the layers 14 by a bituminous &c. adhesive 16 of such softening characteristics that it softens under fire conditions at a lower temperature, that the weatherresisting layers 18 thus releasing the fire-resisting layers from the fibrous layers permitting them to bulge and form insulating air pockets 20. The sheet may have weather-proofing outer coatings 26. Specifications 106,997 and 194,275, [both in Class 140], are referred to.
