Abstract

548,756. Diaphragms. MARSH, D.C.E., GARDINER, A. S., and ACOUSTIC PRODUCTS, Ltd. May 9, 1942, No. 6294. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group V] A sheet of seven diaphragms moulded from a pulp suspension (see Group V) is dried, impregnated with a waterproofing agent such as phenolformaldehyde resin or rubber latex (if such agent was not present in the pulp suspension) and pressed to shape between heated dies. The diaphragms may be cut out either before or after the hot pressing. The closed ends of the neck 1 are cut off and holes are formed in the flange 3 for mounting purposes. The diaphragm shown has an overall diameter of about 1¥ inch and is suitable for use in small loudspeakers, microphones and earphones of the moving coil type.
