548,657. Golf balls. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Jan. 7, 1942, No. 260. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1941. [Class 132 (ii)] In a method of making a golf ball, elastic thread 3 of relatively high gravity is wound under tension upon a rubber bag I filled with liquid or easily liquefiable substance, collapsing the bag by removal of its contents and thereby partially releasing the rubber winding, and completing the ball winding with a tensed elastic winding 5 of less gravity. The usual cover 6 is then applied. The contents of the rubber bag may be removed by a hypodermic needle.
