Abstract

546,927. Moulding concrete blocks. OATLEY, A. E., and BOWDEN, G. E. April 15, 1941, No. 10154. Divided out of 539,210, [Group X]. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] In the production of moulded concrete blocks, each with channels in one face, the blocks are formed with the channels in their undersurfaces upon pallets x which form the bottom of the mould, each channel being formed by a pair of mandrels t, which, sliding on the pallet, are inserted into the mould from opposite sides thereof and meet within the mould. The mandrels enter the mould through holes u in the mould ends m, and are preferably of unequal lengths so that they meet not at the centre of the channels. The ends of the mandrels are bevelled at v so as to form ribs h which support reinforcing rods in the channels. The sides of the mould are hinged on the base k, and the (loose) ends m are held in place by cramps n on slides o to which the mandrels are connected. The slides are reciprocated by means of handles q and links s. Fig. 7 shows a wall made by connecting the laid blocks with concrete. Specification 539,210, [Group X], is referred to.
