Abstract
546,767. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 22, 1941, No. 5166. Convention date, April 24, 1940. [Class 29] The bottom of the storage space of a cabinet cooled by the usual evaporator or cooling unit 11 is cooled by a secondary closed condensing heat transfer system having an evaporator portion in the form of coils 14 in thermal contact with the liner bottom and a condenser portion 15 in thermal contact with the refrigerant inlet pipe 16 of the main cooling unit 11 beyond the float chamber 13 or other flow control means. The conduit 16 may be enlarged alongside conduit 15 and be secured thereto by clips 34, and the heat exchanger thus formed may be enclosed in a plastic material having particles of heat conductive material dispersed therein. :Preferably this heat exchanger and the float chamber 13 are embedded in loose insulating material 35 applied after the cabinet has been assembled with the separate top part 23, 25 in position. A cover 24 of the top is retained by a clip flange 36 at one side and fastening means 38 at the other side. A glass cover 31 of a pan 30 may be supported on a shelf frame 29 slidable in supports 32.
