Abstract
546,190. Protractors; drilling-jigs. ATKINSON, T. H. March 3, 1941, No. 2819. [Class 97 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A measuring protractor instrument adapted for setting out centres for drilling, for gauging &c. comprises a base 10 adapted to be held in position on the work by means of a central bolt taking through an aperture in the work or by means of an enclosing plate clamped to the work. Within the base 10 is mounted for rotation a protractor disc 13 having vernier markings 13a co-operating with angle graduations 12 on the base 10. The protractor disc 13 is provided with a sleeve 20 within which may be adjustably clamped a bar comprising telescopic members 21, 22 both of which are graduated so that the total length can be determined by means of vernier readings 33. The ends of the bar may be provided with lugs 40, 41 having apertures 42 through which drills may be passed for drilling purposes or holders for scribers may be provided. The base 10 may be replaced by a circular housing with a wall surround having gears for operating the protractor disc and in all cases any gears for operating the disc and the relative positions of the rods 21, 22 may be provided with a quick release.
