[Class 89 (i)] A clip for holding nuts to a part to be bolted into a structure without access to the side on which the nut is located may serve also preliminarily to hold parts in assembled relation. The clips are preferably punched from cold rolled or like spring metal and comprise a base 10, Fig. 4, with extensions 12 to engage one side of parts a, b to be held in assembled relation or of a single part to be attached to the part c, Fig. 2. Downwardly bent lugs 13 engage slots in the part b and recesses 18 in the nut &c. N to 'hold these parts against relative rotation. Spring tongues 16 may engage the underside of the part b to hold the clips in position and shoulders 15 hold the nut in position, outwardly diverging ends 14 facilitating the application of the nuts. Instead of the hole 11 for the bolt spring tongues may be provided to engage the threads for a locking action on the bolt. In a modification for fixing a plate having more than one tapped hole, separate slots are provided for the clips and the lugs are first bent outwards to exert a holding action on the plate and then are bent inwards to bring the free ends into contact. In another modification the tongues pass through apertures instead of slots. In a further modification the clips are of wire bent to the shape shown in Fig. 8. Specification 527,340 is referred to.
