Abstract
544,255. Degasifying liquids. AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. Sept. 20, 1940. No. 14399. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1939. [Class 1 (i)] Liquid dispersions such as those resulting from the regeneration of hydrated cellulose from viscose are degasified by aeration in a flotation machine, the conditions of operation being such that separation of solids by froth flotation does not occur. The Figure shows a machine of the Fagergren type provided with squirrel cage rotor and stator 7, 8 adapted for the invention by the provision of an outlet pipe 6 for the volatile substances. The liquid outlet 3 is so positioned that no separation of the liquid phase is effected. The formation of froth may be prevented by neutralization of frothing constituents or by the addition of wetting agents, and the machine may be operated at higher than normal speeds.
