543,814. Backing-off attachments for lathes. TRY, R. H. Feb. 17, 1941, No. 2115. [Class 83 (iii)] A relieving attachment for a lathe comprises a relieving cam 4 splined on a shaft 5 driven from the lathe headstock by gearing 5a and arranged to reciprocate a slide block 6 connected by an adjustable link 14 to the cross slide 16. The cross slide guide is pivoted to the saddle at 26 and is adjustable by a slot an bolts 28 to vary the angle of relief. The shaft 5 includes a coupling 21 which may be angularly adjusted to vary the phase of the cam movement without disturbing the gearing 5a.
