Abstract
542,060. Folding dental chairs. WHITE, D. A., and KENT, M. B. Sept. 20, 1940, No. 14406. [Class 52 (ii)] A dental chair comprises a pair of front legs 1, a pair of rear legs 4 and a back provided with aligned bearings mounted upon spindles 7 secured in position by means such as vertical tubes 19. The front and rear legs are in pairs interconnected by cross tubes 2, 5 respectively and the back member comprises a U- member having cross tubes 11, 12 and mounted telescopically on spindles 8 having aligned bearings for the spindles 7. A seat comprising a rectangular front 21 and sheet-seating portion 20 is pivoted to the back member 10 and is positioned in operative position by lugs 24. A bar 14 having teeth 15 engageable with the bar 12 is carried by arms 17 pivoted on the spindles 7 and serves to hold the back member in vertical adjustment. Telescopic rods or tubes 26, 27 with a catch member 30 serves to connect adjustably the back and seat to the rear legs for vertical and angular adjustment. A frame 57 with table 58 is adapted to be positioned in the vertical tubes 19 and a head rest 34 .. 41 is provided. A foot rest comprises a pivoted frame 46 with pivoted legs 49 and a foot bar 51 with parallel curved bars 52 is adjustable within the frame 46 and secured in adjusted position by means of lugs engaging one or other pair of a series of apertures. A bar 42 interconnects the front and rear legs in operative position.
