Abstract

542,049. Facing blocks. HARTLEY, B. F. Sept. 2, 1940, No. 13752. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Concrete blocks 1, 2 for the faces of walls are each provided off-set from the middle, with dovetail grooves a in one of their vertical sides so that in constructing a double wall with the face blocks with their grooved sides facing one another, tie blocks 7, having dovetail ribs b at each end, may be fitted between the walls to hold them together. The blocks of one row are arranged to break joint with those of the next row, and the tie block joints break joint with the horizontal joints in the outside blocks. The tie blocks may have openings through them. Angle shaped end blocks are shown at 4 and 5, Fig. 5. The vertical ends of the main blocks have ribs and grooves which interengage when the blocks are in position.
