Abstract
541,905. Aerials. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. May 8, 1940, No. 8280. Convention date, June 5, 1939. [Class 40 (v)] A loop aerial 1 is screened against electrostatic disturbances by an earthed outer winding 2 which is wound over the sides 3, 4 of a rectangular or oval frame made of wood, hard rubber, "Bakelite" (R.T.M.) or the like. The aerial loop 1 is wound upon spacers 5 which are located at the inner edges of the frames so that the capacity between the loop 1 and screen 2 may be minimized. The loop 1 is wound, Fig. 2, on one half of the spacers 5, and the grid connection is taken from the innermost winding, where the capacity between the latter and the screen 2 is least. The aerial is provided with a strip 10 carrying terminals and a padding condenser 12. The screening coil 2 is connected to earth, preferably at its middle point, Fig. 3 (not shown), so that it is balanced with respect to earth and the impedance between the turns and earth is minimized.
