541,015. Pleating and corrugating paper, fabric and metal. FLEXIBACK MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and FRENCH, L. J. B. R. May 6, 1940, No. 8135. [Class 141] An apparatus for creasing or corrugating fabric, paper, or metal, and particularly for pleating a calico strip used in connection with the process of back stripping in book binding comprises a pair of plates 1, 2, Fig. 1, each carrying a set of converging pleating ribs 3, those on the lower plate being integral therewith or rigidly located in grooves, or adjustable by means of wedges 4, while those on the upper plate are pivoted at 5 and formed with upstanding portions 6 engaged by an eccentric 7 or a series of cams 7a, Fig. 8. The material is fed in the direction of the arrow and is progressively pleated to an increasing depth during its passage through the apparatus. In a modified construction, a heater box is associated with the apparatus. Specification 441,294, [Group XV], is referred to.
