Abstract

540,903. Huts; wooden slabs. TARRAN, R. G. March 26, 1940, No. 1554/41 Divided out of 540,881. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iv)] [Also in Group XXIII] A curved wooden building slab comprises a curved web portion and longitudinal curved edge flanges of wood extending in the direction of curve and standing normal to the surface inwardly of the curve, the slabs being joined together by these flanges only to form a surface. The web portion may be formed of laterally extending slats 43 joined at their rabbitted edges by curved longitudinally extending flanges 26, by which, adjacent slabs are screwed or bolted together in abutting relationship. The slabs may be joined in broken bond formation, and slabs for the lower portion of the arched structure formed by the slabs may be of different curvature from the upper slabs, but the arched curve is continuous. The surface is covered by overlapping sheets of waterproof material, The screws 34 for joining the flanges together are inserted alternately from opposite sides of the flanges.
