[Class 27] In coin-freed pre-payment mechanism, more particularly for electricity meters, the movement of the quantity wheel, initiated by insertion of a coin and manipulation of a knob, &c., is completed by means operating from the moment of release of the knob independently of either the coin-or the knob, thus determining with greater accuracy the amount of commodity credited for each coin. The coinpocket member is formed of three discs c, a, b rotated by a knob 4, and has co-axial therewith a driven disc o furnished with four axial pins p and geared to the quantity wheel. Geared by a 12 to 1 reduction train t, u, v, w to the disc o is a disc r also provided with four axial pins s. Horse-shoe springs x take over the pins p, s, one spring for each set. Thus when on insertion of a shilling the disc o is given an eighth turn by the knob and coin, the spring x bears on the pin p to complete a full quarter turn. Insertion of a penny will allow of a partial turn of the disc r and its completion to a full quarter by its horse-shoe spring. A ratchet engaging stationary teeth prevents reversed rotation of the pocket c, a, b. The disc r is connected through pins f, m on levers e, rocked by the coin.
