Abstract

539,399. Radial cylinder pumps and motors. HYLAND, C. April 9, 1940, No. 6368. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a radial cylinder pump or motor in which the pistons 3 are operated by a common eccentric 4, 5 and are partially rotated as well as being reciprocated so as to act as rotary valves, each piston carries a radial arm 15 to engage the same face cam 16 on the eccentric. Each piston is extended in the form of a sleeve 3<SP>x</SP> with ports 13 to co-operate with cylinder ports 14. For varying the stroke of the pistons, the outer eccentric element 4 may be rotated relative to the inner eccentric 5 by axial movement of a sleeve 17 (not shown) in the manner described in Specification 538,230, [Group XXVI].
