Abstract

539,294. Kerbs for roadways. WEBBER, H. Dec. 1,1939, No. 31235. [Class 107] To render the edges of pathways &c. visible at night, the kerb comprises a trough-shaped base a and a full-length cover b leaving an aperture f having its lower face directed downwardly to the road, one or more electric lamps 2 mounted as a removable unit being arranged below the aperture. As shown, the lamps are of tubular form with metal end caps 2a by which they are connected in series through rods 4 in insulating-plugs 3. In a modification, sets of lamps are mounted on wooden strips fitted in slots in the kerb.
