Abstract
538,230. Eccentrics. HYLAND, C. Feb. 2, 1940, No. 2035. [Class 122 (i)] In a compound eccentric, the two elements 1, 2 are connected by an axially adjustable member 6 coaxial with the primary shaft and having driving engagement of planetary or epicyclic gear type with one eccentric member and spiral engagement with the other member, the adjustment being effected during rotation. In one form, Fig. 1, the inner eccentric 1 and axial member 6 are connected by spiral grooves 4 on an extension 3 of members 1 or 6, the outer eccentric 2 being connected with member 6 by gear teeth 8, 9. Alternatively, the flange 7 carried by eccentric 2 may have an internal or external thread 5 engaging spiral grooves 4 on the extension 3 or within a skirt carried thereby. In this case eccentric 1 and member 3 engage by keys and longitudinal keyways, or by a pin 14, Fig. 5, connected to a plunger 13 in an axial slot 15. The slot 15 may be inclined and the co-operating parts 4, 5 inclined.
