Abstract
537,834. Insulators. WHESSOE FOUNDRY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and PUTTICK. A. Jan. 10, 1940, No. 540. [Class 36] A high-tension insulator combining high mechanical strength and resistance to flashover, and suitable for electric precipitation of matter suspended in gases, comprises an inner rod 1 of synthetic resin separated from an outer quartz sleeve or sheath 2 by a space 3, infiltration of dust to which is prevented by asbestos rings 4 clamped between the sleeve 2 and cast iron end caps 6 threaded on the rod 1, there being also provided a further asbestos ring 7 held by a steel band 8.
