Abstract

536,572. Air-raid shelters. HARWOOD, H. July 4, 1940, No. 19899/39, [Class 20 (i)] An air-raid shelter is formed of pre-cast concrete sections joined together at their edges by bolts disposed longitudinally of the shelter, and each section comprising pre-cast arcuate concrete elements a joined together at their upper abutting edges by means of transverse dowel pins e in preformed apertures and a longitudinal rod d disposed in grooves in the edges. The joint is further grouted with cement or the like and the other joints may be rendered gas and waterproof.
