Abstract
535,364. Hospital and like bedsteads. PHILLIPS, Ltd., A., and ROGERS, A. E. Jan. 23, 1940, No. 1349. [Class 52 (ii)] In a hospital or like bedstead having a sectional mattress, and wherein the sections may be independently removed, the sections are provided at the sides with hook-like projections which engage rods at opposite sides of the bedstead, the rods at one side being pivoted to facilitate removal or replacement of the sections. In the Figure are shown three sections 10 extending between the side rails 7, 7a of the bedstead. The sections are each carried by a pair of bars 12b having at one end hooks 12 engaging a bar 8 secured to the side rail 7. At the other end hooks 12a, of an open inclined shape, co-operate with bars 9 pivoted to the side rail 7a. A handle 13 bridges each pair of bars 12b. To detach a section, the hooks 12a are raised clear of the bar 9, the bar is swung back as shown in connection with the centre section and the section is lowered and removed from the bar 8.
