Abstract
534,510. Rotary engines. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. March 1, 1940, No. 3919. Convention date, March 8, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (ii)] In a rotary engine of the kind having putwardly sliding diametrical vanes carried by a rotor eccentrically mounted in a stator, the inner surface of the stator is made up of two concentric portions of different radii, two portions of archimedian spirals between them giving uniform radial movement to the vanes, and four connecting portions of the form r = 2#+C giving uniform acceleration to the vanes. The curves have common tangents at all their points of juncture. With vanes -having solid rounded tips, the specified curves are used for the locus of the centre of curvature of the tips. With vanes having packing pieces with cylindrical bearing surfaces the curves provide the locus of the centre of the cylindrical surfaces. Specification 527,544 is referred to.
