Abstract

533,673. De-icing airscrews. POBJOY AIRMOTORS & AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and TOWLER, C. O. Nov. 13, 1939, No. 29955. [Class 114] De-icing liquid is supplied to the airscrew blade 10 by a distributer plate 18 provided with orifices 22- concentric with the propeller shaft 12. The liquid passes from the fixed pipe 14 to the inverted slingerplate 11 and pipe 17 to an upwardlyinclined passage 16 in communication with the distributer heater. The propeller blade may be radially grooved in the neighbourhood of the plate 22 to facilitate the distribution of the liquid over the blade.
