Abstract
533,334. Piston-rings. HOSKING, A. G. Oct. 30, 1939. No. 28974. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1938. [Class 122 (i)] Relates to piston rings of the kind comprising upper and lower com ponents having gaps between their ends, and each having a projection to enter the gap in the other component. A three-part ring, according to the invention comprises an intermedi. ate member 1, Fig. 5 having upwardly and downwardly projecting slotted tongues 2, 3a and upper and lower members 6, 7, Fig. 4, in the form of plain rings having their ends separated by gaps, into which the tongues 2, 3a project. The tongues may be opposite to one another or otherwise. A two-part ring consists of two identical members 8, 9, Fig. 2, having slotted tongues 8a, 9a, which project upwardly or downwardly into a gap between the ends of the co-operating member.
