Abstract
532,223. Aircraft alighting gear. AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS, Ltd., and BRIDGES, D. G. Aug. 22, 1939, No. 24208. [Class 4] A retractable alighting gear comprises a leg 9 connected by links 6, 7 with one part 3 of a breakable strut the upper part 2 of which is pivoted at 4 to the part 3, and to the aircraft structure at 5. The plunger 15 of a shockabsorber 13 in the leg is pivoted to the link 6. A radius rod 19 is pivoted to the framework and to the street member 3 which is pivoted to the member 2 and to the link 6 at the pivot 4. The gear is extended and contracted by a double-acting jack 25 pivoted at the pivot 5 of the member 2 and adapted to operate a lever 22 pivoted to the member 2 and connected to a link 24 carrying a pin adapted to move in a slot 30 in the member 3 and engage the tail 31 of a latch 28 co-operating with a projection 26 of the member 2. When the jack is extended the latch is released and thereafter the gear is retracted into the position shown in dotted lines.
