Abstract

531,772. Galvanic batteries. LUBECK, H., and ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Aug. 1, 1939, No. 22294. [Class 53] Webs b on the electrodes of alkaline accumlators are spot welded to collectors c at points where the thickness of metal is small to avoid overheating of the electodes. The collectors have an extended cross-section in other directions so as to carry the desired current. In the example shown the collector is of large area of thin metal. In other examples a stout bar has thin parts at the welding points, either in the body of the bar or at its edges. A more conductive bar j, Fig. 7, may be inserced in the collector at a thickened part h. A terminal d may be welded as shown, and the terminal may have a more highly conducting core. The wall of a cell, or the separating wall e, Fig. 11, of a double cell, may serve as collector, and the webs b1 b2 of the electrodes of one polarity may be spot welded either directly to the wall or through the intermediary of a bar c1 c2.
