Abstract

531,629. Washing smoke. COFFEY, O. L. July 7, 1939, No. 19848. [Class 55 (ii)] A smoke stack with a deflector 7 to direct gases to an outer housing 10 is fitted with a jet 12 to deliver a water spray on to the deflector. A column of water is maintained in the lower part of the housing by an overflow pipe 15, and returns particles washed from the gases. The housing is of rectangular cross-section and connects with plane side parts of the stack.
