Abstract

530,442. Projectiles ; fuzes. IMBER, J. May 11, 1939, No. 14084. [Class 9 (i)] An aerial bomb comprising a casing 1 and tail fins 2, has a deformable indiarubber nose 3 which prevents penetration of the target and a passage 6 housing a bolt 5 adapted to be driven in to fire a cartridge 8 which causes the bomb to rebound before the explosion of the main charge. The latter is fired by means of a momentum-actuated body 13 with a striker pin 15 which is driven on to a cap 16 serving to ignite a timefuze attached to the detonator 18. Safety pins 11, 19 are removed before the bomb is released and a shear wire 20 and spring 21 prevent premature detonation of the main charge.
