Abstract
530,094. Aircraft engines and radiators. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. June 16, 1939, No. 17650. Convention date, April 28. [Class 4] In an engine and radiator installation enclosed by a cowling, the radiator length lies in the direction (f the driving shaft and its lower and upper surfaces form the inlet and outlet for the cooling air, the air conduit progressively increasing towards the radiator. As shown, radiators b are disposed on both sides of an aeroengine 2 which is housed in a streamlined cowling 3. The radiators are disposed approximately parallel tc the crank-shaft of the engine, the cylinder of which are arranged in V-formation. The radiators are housed in divergentconvergent duct 4, 5 arranged as shown and either or both the inlet or outlet sections of the ducts may be provided with regulating means. A duct may be arranged above or below the engine and the exit from the duct may be disposed in a region of reduced pressure.
