Abstract
530,089. Vehicle anti-dazzle screens. HORSTMAN, J. H. G. June 16, 1939, No. 17627. [Class 103 (ii)] An auxiliary sun visor is adapted to be attached to a main visor by means which permits it to be moved from an inoperative position in which it is superimposed on the main visor to various positions in which it extends either downwardly or laterally from the main visor. In Figs. 2, 4 the auxiliary visor 10 of translucent or coloured transparent material is attached to the main visor 13 by a channel-section bracket 12 clamped to the main visor by screws. The ball-ends 16, 18 of shanks 15, 19 extending from the bracket 12 and a lug 20 on the frame 11 of the auxiliary visor 10 are received in a housing 17 and are held in frictional engagement with it and with each other by a disc 23 and screw 22. The auxiliary visor may thus be turned about the shank 15 from a position in which it is superimposed on the visor 13 to the position shown in which it forms a downward extension of that visor or it may be swung out laterally about the axis of the shank 19 to a position towards a side window. By reason of a slot 24 in the housing 17 it may also be swung to and fro relatively to the housings as indicated in Fig. 4, In Fig. 5 the pivotal mounting comprises an L- shaped rod 25 pivoted at 26 to the bracket 12 and to which the auxiliary visor 10 is pivoted at 27. Coil springs 28 provide the necessary frictional resistance to the pivotal movement. According to the Provisional Specification, an auxiliary visor may be slidable in guides parallel to the main visor or it may be formed of a number of rigid slats linked together so that it may be rolled up or unrolled as desired.
