[Class 140] Building material comprises layers of corrugated, bent or buckled material between sheets of covering material, the axes of the corrugations in one or more layers being disposed at an angle, e.g., a right angle tc the axes of the corrugations in other layers and the axes of at least one set of corrugations being at right angles to the sheets of covering material. The corrugated material may be paper, cardboard, sawdust, wood shavings, fibres, veneers, metal, rubber, cotton waste, plastic materials or pulp, and may in the case of plastic materials be moulded, while paper may be merely crimped. The corrugation may be filled. The covering sheets may be cloth, plywood, asbestos, cardboard, paper, veneer, wood, gypsum, stone, metal, rubber or plastic material, and may be perforated. Intermediate layers of wood, metal, cardboard, rubber, fabric or plastic material may also be provided. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 layers of corrugated paper glued on one side of a flat sheet of paper a, b, are superposed and adhered with the corrugations c, d at right angles. Slabs of the desired thickness are cut from this core and are surfaced with plywood sheets e. The core material may be proofed against water, fire, insects or heat. A plurality of slabs of core material may be superposed and covered with sheets h. A composite slab g<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 3, may be made by placing slabs f side by side so that the layers in some are at right angles to the layers in others, and the assembly being covered with sheets h<SP>1</SP>.
