Abstract
528,355. Television. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. May 4, 1939, No. 13402. Convention date, May 7, 1938. [Class 40 (iii)] Relates to television transmitters in which the photo-electric screen of a cathode-ray tube is alternately exposed to a picture film and scanned by the cathode ray as described in Specification 431,207. According to the invention the period of time during which the screen is exposed to the picture is made longer than the time interval between two successive scannings, this increased time of exposure giving a higher charge to the screen and therefore a larger amplitude to the picture currents. The transition impulses are compensated in known manner by a photo-electric cell illuminated directly or indirectly by the light which strikes the screen of the cathode-ray tube. If an increase in the picture currents tends to occur during the times when scanning and exposure coincide, compensation may be made by modulating the picture currents by the compensating impulse of the aforesaid photo-electric cell.
